Springfield police, aided by state and county authorities, arrest 33-year-old Artwain Davis after a raid at his East Park Street apartment reveals an illegal firearm, substantial quantities of drugs, and cash. The operation stems from an ongoing investigation led by the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, which culminated in the recovery of a large capacity firearm, 50 bags of heroin, nine bags of crack cocaine, and one bag of powder cocaine weighing about 24 grams.
In addition to the drugs, officers confiscate 144 rounds of loose ammunition and nearly $1,500 in cash. Davis faces multiple serious charges, including possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and trafficking cocaine, raising concerns about public safety and drug-related violence in the community.
