A group of students from Savannah Arts Academy traveled to the Georgia State Capitol to advocate for stronger gun safety measures as part of the statewide “Students Demand Action” movement. They engaged directly with legislators, pressing for legislative changes like House Bills 1 and 207, which aim to enhance secure storage practices for firearms in homes and vehicles.

Among the voices calling for change, student Ry Walker emphasized the ongoing impact of gun violence on younger generations, stating, “It’s bigger than me.” Another student, Zoe Wagner, expressed hope that their presence would highlight the urgency of the issue, advocating for real legislative action.
