An Anderson man, Donovan Williford, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to serious charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, and assault. The case unfolded on January 31, 2024, when law enforcement discovered a victim at a local QuikTrip gas station, bound with electrical tape and bleeding from a gunshot wound sustained during the altercation.
The investigation revealed that Williford had lured the victim to a specific location, where he violently assaulted and robbed him, attempting to use the victim’s debit card afterward. This grim event not only resulted in significant injuries to the victim but also qualifies as a “strike” under South Carolina’s three-strike law, potentially exposing Williford to life imprisonment for any future convictions.
