The Colorado House has passed a major gun control bill requiring additional training and background checks for Coloradans purchasing certain semiautomatic firearms, such as AR-15s and AK-47s. Some Western Slope lawmakers expressed support for the bill as a sensible approach to combat gun violence, contrasting with opposition from Republicans who argue it infringes on gun rights and burdens local resources.
