A new app named EveryShot aims to provide comprehensive tracking of gun violence incidents in Tennessee by utilizing artificial intelligence to analyze media reports. As of late March 2025, the tool has recorded 79 gun-related incidents in Tennessee this year, with 42 occurring in Memphis. This innovative app allows users to filter incidents by date, location, type of shooting, and demographics, giving the public unprecedented access to data on unintentional shootings, homicides, suicides, and police shootings.
Everytown for Gun Safety developed the EveryShot database to enhance transparency around gun violence in the U.S. Since January 1, 2025, Tennessee has seen 328 gun-related incidents resulting in 115 fatalities and 196 injuries. In Memphis alone, while the overall crime rate has shown a decline, there have still been 167 gun-related incidents, illustrating the ongoing challenges in addressing gun violence in urban areas. The app’s ability to compile information from over 75 categories may empower communities to respond more effectively to these incidents.
