A 53-year-old resident of Humble, Texas, has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for his role in a scheme to illegally ship approximately 473 handguns to Iraq. Yashab Idnan Sandhu pleaded guilty to providing false information on firearms records, admitting to altering previously completed forms to misreport the sale of the firearms to innocent parties, instead of a suspected firearms smuggler. This significant case was highlighted by U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei, who emphasized the importance of public safety in firearm dealings.

Authorities discovered the hidden cache of guns in a shipping crate at a Port of Houston warehouse, a find that could have had dire implications if it had reached its intended destination. The investigation, initiated in March 2020, unraveled the unlawful actions linked to Sandhu, who was deemed a responsible person at R’s Golf & Guns, a federally licensed firearms dealer. While Sandhu has been ordered to prison, he is currently on bond and will voluntarily surrender to authorities at a designated facility soon.
