Milwaukee residents voice growing concerns about gun violence in local parks, particularly after recent shootings at Dineen Park that claimed the lives of a 16-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man. The sheriff’s office reports 14 calls for service at Dineen Park in March alone, indicating a troubling trend as officials urge the community to actively report incidents.

During a town hall meeting at the park, residents emphasized the need for better patrols and community resources to engage youth and prevent violence. With summer on the horizon, officials stress that busy parks are safer and have implemented programs like the Alert Neighbor app to enhance vigilance among residents and police, aiming to create a safer environment for families and children.
