Interim 16th Judicial District Attorney Morris Michael Haik III is taking a firm stand against gun violence, announcing a zero-tolerance policy for gun crimes in the region. Haik emphasizes the urgent need for safety in communities, expressing frustration over the prevalence of gun-related incidents and pledging to prosecute offenders vigorously. “Those individuals that are illegally carrying guns will be prosecuted to the fullest,” he states, highlighting his commitment to enhancing public safety.

His focus not only includes tackling gun violence but also aims to curb illegal firearm possession in conjunction with drug offenses. As he puts it, “The homicides, the shootings, they got to end.” Discover how these changes could reshape community safety efforts in New Iberia.
