A 38-year-old man from Cantonment, Matthew Kyle Williams, faces felony aggravated assault charges after an alleged shooting incident involving a rifle. Authorities report that Williams attacked a woman with the butt of an AR-15 rifle and fired several shots in her direction, leading to his arrest at the scene where deputies found a loaded weapon and shell casings.

The incident unfolded late Wednesday night, with deputies responding to a distress call that led them to discover the victim in a distressed state at an intersection. Williams, who denies the accusations, is currently being held without bond at the Escambia County Jail, raising significant concerns over gun safety and domestic violence in the community.
