Authorities confirm that the 20-year-old suspected gunman who opened fire at Florida State University, killing two and wounding five, was shot in the jaw by campus police during the incident. Phoenix Ikner, currently hospitalized with significant injuries, is expected to survive, and police plan to release further details once he is formally charged with crimes possibly including first-degree murder.

The tragic shooting unfolded on April 17 when Ikner allegedly targeted multiple individuals on campus. Family members have identified the deceased victims as Tiru Chabba, a 45-year-old vendor employee, and Robert Morales, a 57-year-old dining services worker, raising concerns within the campus community regarding safety and violence. Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s access to the weapon used in the shooting, a former service gun belonging to his stepmother, a deputy at the local sheriff’s office.
