A resident inside a Kalamazoo, Mich., home defended themselves from an early-morning home invasion on Tuesday, January 28.
Police say they were called to the scene of a home invasion, when dispatchers informed them that there was a second home invasion attempt next door to the first, and in this second house, the resident had fired shots. The resident said the suspect was in the process of forcibly entering the house when they opened fire. When officers arrived, they found the suspect behind the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover. A gunman walked into a food store in Westwego, La., and told the cashier, “This is a holdup! Give it to me, quick!” The cashier picked up a gun, fired twice and mortally wounded the thief.
Police found the man’s body a short distance from the store and arrested a woman suspected of driving a getaway car. (The Times-Picayune, New Orleans, La.)
