Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson recently convenes a gun violence roundtable at City Hall, uniting local leaders and advocates to confront rising youth gun violence. With data showing a disturbing trend of increased firearm access among teenagers, participants emphasize the need for collaborative strategies to safeguard children and teens as summer approaches.

During the April 28 meeting, various stakeholders, including community organizations and criminal justice representatives, focus on preventive measures and alternatives to violence. Johnson highlights that while overall gun violence has dipped, the risks for younger populations remain alarming, stressing the urgent need for structured programs that engage youth during the summer months.
