Seaford Police express strong support for an executive order issued by Governor Matt Meyer aimed at combating gun violence in Delaware. This initiative establishes the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety, which will work under the Department of Safety and Homeland Security to address the alarming rise in gun-related incidents across the state.

The move comes on the heels of two shootings in Seaford within a month, prompting local officials to seek comprehensive strategies for community safety. Deputy Chief Tyler Justice emphasizes their commitment to a multifaceted approach, involving partnerships with schools and nonprofits to secure additional funding for effective enforcement projects. “We’re excited to see where it goes,” Justice states, highlighting the department’s proactive stance in fostering collaboration and finding solutions to gun violence.
