The Delaware Beaches Chapter of Moms Demand Action is organizing a Gun Violence Awareness event on June 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk Bandstand. This gathering aims to commemorate National Gun Violence Awareness Day and will encourage attendees to wear orange, a symbol of solidarity for victims and survivors of gun violence.

The event will feature music, speakers, educational resources on safe gun storage, and a memory board for those affected by gun violence. With 123 Delaware residents losing their lives to firearms each year, the urgency to raise awareness is clear. Participants can engage in a peaceful walk while honoring the legacy of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old whose tragic death inspired the Wear Orange movement.
