Calvin Polachek, a graduate of Dallas High School, is under scrutiny for falsely claiming he survived a mass shooting at his school in 2017, an incident that never occurred. His misleading assertions gained attention during a recent gun violence demonstration in Kentucky, where he claimed that eleven people, including family and friends, were killed, prompting public outrage from local leaders and the community.

This controversy is compounded by Polachek’s previous involvement in discussions on gun violence with then-Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro in 2019. At a roundtable event that included mental health professionals, Polachek emphasized the lack of support for troubled youth, making his subsequent fabrications especially concerning to those advocating for real victims of gun violence. As news outlets retract their reports, the fallout continues as officials and community members demand accountability for these falsehoods.
