Myrtle Beach faces rising safety concerns as residents and visitors grapple with recent gun violence on Ocean Boulevard, just days before the highly anticipated Carolina Country Music Festival. Two shootings in the past month and a recent incident that injured one person have led some festival-goers to reconsider their plans, with local resident Larry Paige noting that his son sold his tickets over safety fears.

Despite the apprehension, others still plan to attend the festival, citing personal experiences and a belief in the city’s safety. “We’ve come here every year… never felt unsafe,” said visitor Joe DeMarco, reflecting the mixed feelings surrounding the event. With over 30,000 attendees expected each night, local authorities and festival organizers are facing scrutiny as they work to ensure a secure environment for visitors.
