A record-breaking $168,770 was generated to support youth shooting sports at the fourth annual Day of Clays – Minnesota, in late April. The event was hosted by MidwayUSA Foundation and presented by Reed’s Family Outdoor Outfitters.

Hundreds gathered at Rice Creek Hunting and Recreation in Little Falls, Minn., to participate in the 100-target sporting clays tournament, side games and prize sweepstakes. Every donation directly benefited the endowment of the attendee’s chosen youth shooting team.

“Our partnership with Reeds Family Outdoor Outfitters is not merely transactional; it is built on shared values and a common vision to impact youth shooting teams locally, regionally and across the nation,” said MidwayUSA Foundation Program Manager David Grell. “We simply could not provide the world-class experience without Adam Arnold and the Reed’s team.” Grell is based in Minnesota and assists local youth shooting teams with funding, as well as offering expertise in all MidwayUSA Foundation’s programs.

“Last year, we brought our top three athletes, and this year, we encouraged our entire shooting team to attend, because there’s no better way to fundraise than actually breaking some targets,” said Central Lakes College Head Coach Robb Kolodziej. After MidwayUSA Foundation’s donation match, Central Lakes College grew its endowment by nearly $17,000 by participating in the event.

The success of the Day of Clays – Minnesota directly benefited a wide range of local Minnesota schools, as well as others that traveled from out of state to support their programs. In all, 30 teams benefited from the gathering.

Youth shooting teams rely on annual cash grants from the MidwayUSA Foundation endowment to assist with purchasing ammo, targets, entry fees and safety equipment, plus additional expenses critical in running each program. Family-owned for 50 years, Reeds Family Outdoor Outfitters offers a firearms, ammunition and gear at its two locations—Walker and Onamia, Minn.
