Brazilian manufacturer Rossi has kept traditional lever-actions alive, producing the R92, its version of the venerable Winchester 1892, since the 1970s. The company’s lever-action lineup has diversified over recent years, with certain models veering in a direction that your average 19th century cowpoke wouldn’t recognize. One such example is the company’s new-for-2025 R95 Triple Black Pistols.

Rossi re-introduced (it was originally sold as the “Rio Grande”) its R95 lever-action rifle in 2023. The solid-top receiver, side-eject rifle with a hammer-block crossbolt safety, is thoroughly modern and Rossi updated it even further with its “Triple Black” editions. The most visually striking element of these firearms is the black Cerakote finish on all of their metal parts and a matte black paint finish with spider webbing on their wood furniture. To complete the package, they use a lever with a mid-size loop wrapped in black paracord and have their muzzles threaded.

R95 Triple Black Pistols take the features of the Triple Black rifles and put them into a pistol form.

The new pistols render the R95 Triple Black rifle in handgun form, “in a size perfect for backpack carry, vehicle storage, or tight maneuvering in dense brush.” They have 13.5” barrels with their muzzles threaded for the attachment of suppressors and other muzzle accessories. A “Shockwave”-style pistol grip has a sling swivel stud, as does the fore-end cap.

Though Triple Black rifles are chambered for traditional rifle cartridges, R95 pistols are offered in .357 Mag. and .44 mag. (six-round capacities), and .454 Casull (five-round capacity). A .45-70 version (four-round capacity) is also available. No sights are provided, but the pistols come with a Picatinny rail installed on the receiver for mounting optics. The Triple Black Pistols have an overall length of 23.15” and weigh 5 lbs., 8 ozs.

In addition to .45-70, the new R95 Triple Black Pistols are also offered in traditional handgun cartridges, like the .454 Casull.

The Rossi R95 Triple Black Pistols chambered in .357 Mag., .44 Mag., and .454 Casull have an MSRP of $1,276, while the .45-70 Gov’t-chambered pistols retail for $1,322. For more information, see the company’s website.
