Connecticut lawmakers have passed legislation permitting Sunday hunting on private lands, marking a significant change after decades of restrictions. Effective October 1, the new law allows hunting on private properties of 10 acres or more, provided hunters have written permission from landowners and maintain safety protocols near public trails.

Supporters, including the National Wild Turkey Federation, call this a landmark victory for outdoor enthusiasts, enhancing opportunities for family participation in wildlife conservation. While some critics express concerns about safety and recreational space for non-hunters, proponents argue that the measures in place, such as the prohibition of hunting within 40 yards of trails, address these issues and will likely increase hunter retention and participation in the state.
