In a disturbing incident on June 26, two Milwaukee police officers were shot and wounded after responding to a report of a suspect armed with a weapon near 25th and Garfield. One officer, identified as 32-year-old Kendall Corder, suffers critical injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds, while his colleague, a 29-year-old officer, sustains non-life-threatening injuries. The Milwaukee Police Association described the attack as an “ambush,” highlighting a worrying trend as four officers have been shot in the line of duty over the last five months.

Following the shooting, a 22-year-old suspect, Tremaine Jones, was arrested early Friday without incident, but as of now, he has not been formally charged. Local officials, including Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, expressed outrage and concern over the escalating violence targeting law enforcement. Community leaders are calling for unity and action to address the rising gun violence in Milwaukee, emphasizing the need for improved public safety measures to protect those who serve to safeguard the community.
