A video showing a deer carcass infested with thousands of ticks has gone viral, prompting wildlife biologist Kip Adams to issue a serious warning about tick populations. The shocking footage, captured during a National Deer Association event in Oklahoma, reveals a mature doe overwhelmed by black-legged and Lone Star ticks, particularly alarming as the area has seen an uptick in tick-related illnesses.

Adams notes that rising temperatures and changes in land management practices have contributed to the expanding range of ticks, which now pose health risks not only to deer but also to humans, with nearly half a million annual Lyme disease diagnoses in the U.S. The video serves as a stark reminder of the broader implications of tick infestations, as young fawns are particularly vulnerable to tick-borne diseases. Furthermore, research indicates that controlled burns may help manage tick populations, offering a potential solution amidst growing concerns.
