Following the tragic shooting incident at Florida State University that left two dead, a group of students is advocating for significant safety reforms on college campuses. Their proposal includes three key bills—the ACCESS Act, the ARMOR Act, and the AGENT Act—in a bid to enhance mental health resources and improve physical security measures across Florida’s public universities.

The ACCESS Act aims to establish a coordinated mental health services office, while the ARMOR Act seeks to ensure that classroom doors lock from the inside during emergencies. In contrast, the AGENT Act focuses on allowing concealed weapons on campus, requiring stringent mental health assessments and training for those who carry firearms. As legislators gear up for the 2025 session, advocates emphasize the necessity of these measures to safeguard students and prevent future tragedies.
