Armed Citizen® Today

A late-night altercation between two men in Philadelphia ended with the aggressor wounded and facing charges, while an armed citizen defended himself.

Police say that at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, a 48-year-old man threatened a 36-year-old man and then pointed a gun at him. The 36-year-old, fearing for his life, responded by drawing his own firearm and opening fire. An exchange of gunfire occurred between the two, with a total of 18 rounds being fired, and the 48-year-old aggressor was shot in the upper thigh.

The suspect was driven to an area hospital in a private vehicle and was later placed under arrest. Police clarified that the 36-year-old victim was licensed to carry a firearm. (NBC 10 Philadelphia; Philadelphia, Pa., 8/14/25)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – June 1971

Daniel Booth, 61, manager of a motel in San Francisco, Calif., was working late in his locked office when a man approached, saying he had car trouble. When Booth came out to help, the man pulled a gun, forced Booth back inside and pushed him to the floor. Booth grabbed a pistol and fired three times, wounding the holdup man.
