Speaker 1: This podcast.

00:00:10
Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show when conservation always wins. I’m your host Spencer new Arth, and today we’re joined by Brody Randall, Corey, Seth, Sarah and Logan. This is a ten round quiz show with questions from Meat Eater’s four verticals, which are hunting, fish, and conservation cooking. There is a prize will donate five hundred dollars to the Conservation organization of the winners choosing. Starting off today’s show with a mail bag question, send your mail bag question to Trivia at the meadeater dot com with the subject line mail bag if you have a question that you want the crew to answer. Today’s questions from Dylan Cole I think he said in his email he’s twelve years old, he says. Does the crew have any bucket list fish? Mine is the tarpin. Mine is in Dylan’s, not Spencer’s.

00:00:55
Speaker 1: Seth.

00:00:56
Speaker 2: What’s a bucket list fish?

00:00:59
Speaker 3: I don’t really have a bucket list fish. I have bucket list places where I want to catch fish.

00:01:03
Speaker 1: Okay, give me an example.

00:01:05
Speaker 4: I’d like to go to Norway to fish for like halbit and stuff there.

00:01:10
Speaker 2: What about something state side.

00:01:14
Speaker 4: Well, I mean like bucket list places.

00:01:16
Speaker 1: Sure.

00:01:16
Speaker 3: Oh, I want to hit all the cool places down south, like Gunnersville and like for like all the famous uh fish.

00:01:23
Speaker 2: With the bast master classic visits those Randall bucket list fish.

00:01:29
Speaker 5: M I just like a giant king salmon, like a giant one, okay, the ones that are few and far between and fewer.

00:01:40
Speaker 6: Yeah, that is bucket lists. They don’t make them like that giant.

00:01:44
Speaker 1: No, I’ve caught. I’ve caught them over forty like a sixty plus.

00:01:49
Speaker 2: That is giant XXL logan bucket list fish.

00:01:53
Speaker 7: A red snapper that I could actually keep, caught them before, but I want to actually catch it.

00:01:58
Speaker 1: And eat it.

00:01:59
Speaker 2: So I’m not familiar with red snapper. Is there like a slot if you catch one below the slot?

00:02:04
Speaker 1: When we were.

00:02:05
Speaker 7: In Florida, we had to toss back all the red snappers because they’re out of season. So we caught like a bunch of red snappers where we couldn’t keep anyone, and then we threw them back in the water and watched all the sharks eat them.

00:02:15
Speaker 1: M okay.

00:02:17
Speaker 2: Probably the most attainable bucket list fish we’ve heard so far, Sarah, bucket list fish I’d like to catch a permit on the fly. Okay, Corey, I’d love to go to Mongolia and catch a timing.

00:02:30
Speaker 1: Wow.

00:02:31
Speaker 2: Oh it’s cool fish, Brody.

00:02:35
Speaker 6: Uh couber snapper in Panama?

00:02:38
Speaker 1: Wow? Wow, they get big? How cool? Good fishes? How big?

00:02:43
Speaker 6: Like eighty like a giant?

00:02:46
Speaker 2: Maybe this is a meat eater series. We go catch our bucket list fish. We see Logan catch like a twenty two inch snapper, followed by Brody in some extreme jungle.

00:02:57
Speaker 1: Well, take Seth to Norway. Yeah, I caught a fish in Norway?

00:03:00
Speaker 4: Did ye?

00:03:00
Speaker 1: What was it? Uh? The guys called it a mackerel. I don’t know if that’s what it.

00:03:04
Speaker 4: Was, holy mackerel.

00:03:07
Speaker 2: I’ve never caught a musky, so I would say a musky is my bucket fish. We used to work at a fish hatchery and I raised thousands of them, and I’ve held them in my bare hands that I caught out of a rearing pond. So I’ve caught musky with my bare hands, but I’ve never caught one on a on a hook.

00:03:20
Speaker 6: And lot go visit Chester. He’ll put you on one.

00:03:23
Speaker 2: Well, I’d like having an attainable bucket.

00:03:25
Speaker 4: List one you say, block off about two weeks.

00:03:28
Speaker 2: Then I can do it. Yeah, we have some housekeeping to get you. On a previous episode, we had a question about the phone number you should call before planting a tree. The answer was eight one to one, but in the follow up discussion there were some wondering aloud about the other one to one phone numbers. So here’s a full list. Two to one one is community services and information, examples being food banks and support groups. They’ll tell you where those are located. Three to one one municipal government services. Examples being to report abandoned vehicles or noise complaints. Those are nonny urgencies that you call for. Four to one one directory assistance, so you call four one one and it tells you the phone number to something else. That was the one we had heavily discussed. Six to one excuse me. Five to one one is traffic. Six to one one telephone company customer service. Seven to one one telecommunications for deaf and hard of hearing. Eight one one underground utility location. Nine to one to one emergency services. Most but not all, are nationally operated. In some of them like four to one one, which is the directory assistance, and six one one which is the telephone customer service are actually going extinct and are getting harder to find. So there are all of your one ones.

00:04:43
Speaker 5: I’ve been getting a ton of eight one one ads on Instagram.

00:04:47
Speaker 7: Book it’s because I’ve been like thinking about digging in my backyard.

00:04:51
Speaker 4: Has anyone used eight one one before?

00:04:53
Speaker 2: I did about two months ago?

00:04:55
Speaker 1: Well?

00:04:55
Speaker 4: How quick is that process?

00:04:56
Speaker 2: So you call them and then you tell them your location, and you go online, you fill out a thing and then they send out their utility companies to mark spots. Their list is like, for where I lived, eight companies long or something, and I think six of those emailed me back within twenty four hours and said your property is of no concern for us. And then the other two came out and they did mark things, and I think it was within like ten days. So it happens pretty quick, and I think it helps if you get on their list early. But if you try to call in you know, like mid May, you’re probably backed up at that point. Safety first, Safety first, all right? The Shelby index for today is a four, so our winners should get eight correct answers, and with that we’re onto the game of trivia. Play the drop pill.

00:05:39
Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything? How’s that just tend to win everything?

00:05:54
Speaker 2: Game on Suckers. Question one on the topic is woodsmanship. This first great question is via Zach Karee McCall and as always, it will be multiple choice. Hypothermia occurs when your core body temperature drops below blank. Is it ninety seven degrees fahrenheit ninety five, ninety three or ninety one. For our Canadian listeners, that would be thirty six degrees celsius, thirty five, thirty four or thirty three. Hypothermia occurs when your core body temperature drops below blank ninety seven ninety five, ninety three, ninety one and celsius that is thirty six, thirty five, thirty four or thirty three. Oh yeah, ooh you wrote down a percentage.

00:06:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going for a degree.

00:06:53
Speaker 2: Hypothermia occurs when core body temperature drops below ninety seven ninety five, ninety three, ninety one. What do you think, Corey sounds cold?

00:07:02
Speaker 8: It sounds yea a hard one.

00:07:05
Speaker 2: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answer. Seth ninety five degrees, Randall ninety five, Logan ninety five, Sarah ninety seven. Coty ninety five Brody ninety three. The correct answer is ninety five degrees room did well or thirty five degrees celsius. At ninety five degrees, you’ll experience uncontrollable shivering, slurred speech, clumsy movements, and mild confusion. At ninety you’ll stop shivering while your vital organs begin to fail. At eighty two you’ll be unconscious with a faint pulse. And it’s seventy five you’ll most likely be dead. But hypothermic patients have been observed at tempts down to fifty five degrees.

00:07:49
Speaker 1: Wo, that’s crazy.

00:07:51
Speaker 2: So ninety five is where it starts. Ninety is just where your organs start to shut down. Question to the topic is conservation. This is the name of Johnny Morris’s museum, which often just gets shortened to.

00:08:05
Speaker 1: Wow, fantastic institutional.

00:08:10
Speaker 2: This is the name of Johnny Morris’s museum, which often just gets shortened to Wow.

00:08:17
Speaker 4: Have you been there?

00:08:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, he’s got a residency there, of course, exactly.

00:08:21
Speaker 1: I wish I wish I did. I’d like to go back there and spend some more time fill.

00:08:26
Speaker 2: Are there any bucket list fish for you on, like Balder’s Gate or not, but I bet that’s like a common thing.

00:08:37
Speaker 8: And there’s a fish that you can catch in the in the northern realms of fay Run called a knuckleheaded trout.

00:08:46
Speaker 4: So that’s my answer.

00:08:47
Speaker 8: You haven’t caught it yet, I have well that you can’t go there in Balder’s Gate, but you can in your imaginations.

00:08:53
Speaker 2: Okay, thank you. This is the name of Johnny Morris’s museum, which often just gets shortened to Wow.

00:09:02
Speaker 1: Randon.

00:09:02
Speaker 2: What was the best part of Wow?

00:09:05
Speaker 1: Oh, it’s hard to say.

00:09:09
Speaker 4: Have a big aquarium.

00:09:10
Speaker 5: The aquarium is amazing because not only is it just stuff in the tanks, but there’s all kinds like there’s a whole wall of just presidents fishing.

00:09:19
Speaker 1: There’s like Jimmy.

00:09:20
Speaker 5: Carter and Roslind Carter’s tackle boxes stuff like that. I mean, it’s just they got a boat that belonged to Hemingway.

00:09:29
Speaker 2: They got the big old like record book deer in there as well.

00:09:31
Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, a ton of big record book animals. They have the Boon and Crockett collection. Like when you see that famous photo of the wall from the New York I guess it was the Museum of Natural History. Then they just have like you did realize, Oh, there’s a weird gun room. And then you just go in there and there’s just like four dozen models.

00:09:59
Speaker 2: Everybody read with a wow.

00:10:02
Speaker 6: What is it?

00:10:03
Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seth says World of Wildlife, Randall Wonders of Wildlife, Logan Wildlife of the World, Sarah World of Wilderness, Corey, World of Wildlife, Brody World of Wildlife.

00:10:20
Speaker 6: World.

00:10:21
Speaker 2: Do we have a correct answer in the room. I think it’s Wonders of wild Life. He’s been there.

00:10:28
Speaker 1: I was afraid. I just embarrass myself.

00:10:31
Speaker 2: The Wonders of Wildlife Natural Museum and Aquarium is located in Springfield, Missouri, USA Today named it America’s Best Aquarium for a record breaking eighth time earlier this year. Their conservation work ranges from hosting school field trips to rehabilitating in dangered sea turtles. Question three, The topic is gear. This company introduced their gender reveal boombox in twenty eighteen.

00:10:58
Speaker 6: Wait, what’s the category?

00:11:00
Speaker 1: Year?

00:11:02
Speaker 2: This company introduced their gender reveal boom box in twenty eighteen.

00:11:09
Speaker 1: Okah, Randall, very quick.

00:11:13
Speaker 5: Mean, I was choosing from between two one answer.

00:11:18
Speaker 2: Have you been a customer of this company? You think Nope, no again. Question three, The topic is geared. This company introduced their gender reveal boombox in twenty eighteen. Sarah, do you have this one right? I couldn’t tell you. Only Randall has any cooomboxes.

00:11:38
Speaker 6: Yeah.

00:11:40
Speaker 4: Like the product is called boom box.

00:11:41
Speaker 2: It’s called the Gender Reveal Boombox. That is the name of their product that you can go buy. Corey said about if the Smidgen of confidence or a company that makes a product called the boombox.

00:11:55
Speaker 4: M yeah, I do too.

00:12:00
Speaker 8: There’s a knucklehead trout for you. That one’s called Old Bidy. I love that it’s got big head.

00:12:04
Speaker 4: It does. Why it’s around fifty pounds.

00:12:06
Speaker 1: A type head?

00:12:08
Speaker 2: What what tell me about the stitches in its belly?

00:12:10
Speaker 3: Oh?

00:12:11
Speaker 8: I have no. It’s probably just lived a long, long, fruitful life putting up a fight.

00:12:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, like a sperm whale and the Ceila can’t had a baby.

00:12:20
Speaker 2: This company introduced their gender revealed boom box in twenty eighteen. Brody in danger of starting zero for three. I don’t know how many times that’s happened in meat either.

00:12:30
Speaker 8: Maybe.

00:12:30
Speaker 4: Yes, that’s what I was going to put.

00:12:32
Speaker 1: It’s what you were going to put but you didn’t put it.

00:12:35
Speaker 2: It’s everybody ready something else? Go ahead and reveal your answer. Seth says c Randall. Turtlebox Logan Turtlebox, Sarah Jbl, Corey Jbl, Brody Tanner Wite correct answer is Tanner White.

00:12:54
Speaker 1: Oh got, that makes one right, makes a lot of sense.

00:13:00
Speaker 2: Tanner Wite used. Didn’t know that was a Tanner Wite used for a gender reveal. Started the twenty seventeen saw mill fire that burned forty seven thousand acres in Arizona. The Tucson area. Blaze was started by off duty Border Patrol agent Dennis Dickey. Let’s all watch the video together to find out if he had a boy or a girl. Oh, take it away, Phil, it’s a boy.

00:13:24
Speaker 1: Wow.

00:13:25
Speaker 2: And the fire started the second that you see the blue cloud like this may as well have been a wildfire reveal. That was so quick.

00:13:36
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:13:36
Speaker 5: Who would have thought in a field full of dry grass.

00:13:39
Speaker 4: That you had set That is insane? That happened so quick. Yeah.

00:13:42
Speaker 7: So when you said boombox, I was thinking music. Can I share a quick story about another misconception about words?

00:13:49
Speaker 4: So there was a couple of years.

00:13:51
Speaker 7: Ago for Christmas, my mom, I was like, ask my mom what my dad wanted for Christmas. She’s like, oh, he wants like a fire he wants a firestick. I was like, okay, sweet, like he loves having fire. So I like go on Etsy and start looking up like custom fire pokers and I find like a sick fire poker. I like message my mom, like, YO, check out this fire stick I got dad, and she’s like, oh no, he wanted like an Amazon firestick for TV. Oh and so I ended up messaging the lady and.

00:14:17
Speaker 4: I was like, oh, I got to return that, and she thought that was funny.

00:14:20
Speaker 6: See, I thought it.

00:14:20
Speaker 2: Was the third thing. There’s like a new muzzle loader that I think shoots the fire stick. That is what it’s called him. I remembering that right something. I thought that’s called the fire stick. So there’s a lot of ways you can go with them. The fire stick.

00:14:32
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:14:32
Speaker 5: I couldn’t figure out how you’d use a turtle box in a gender reveal. Yeah, I mean, but I also I didn’t think Tanner was a company.

00:14:41
Speaker 2: The founder is nast. Name is Tanner.

00:14:43
Speaker 1: Oh, that makes a ton of sense.

00:14:46
Speaker 2: A proprietary chemical question for the topic is wildlife. This next great question is via camera in Gotto learning a lot.

00:14:55
Speaker 1: What is the only.

00:14:56
Speaker 2: Plant that monarch caterpillars eat?

00:15:00
Speaker 1: Oh?

00:15:00
Speaker 2: Come on, mm hmm, and Seth quick to answer. They are picky. What is the only plant that monarch caterpillars eat?

00:15:14
Speaker 4: Seth?

00:15:14
Speaker 2: You have this one, right, yes, Rody, you have this one.

00:15:17
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, this is easy one. Is it a tree? M it’s a plant.

00:15:26
Speaker 2: What is the only plant that monarch caterpillars eat? I’m trying so hard not to cheat off your I would not so that border patrol agent. He was using Tanner right but he was not using the official Tanner Righte gender reveal boombox because that didn’t come out until a whole year after.

00:15:45
Speaker 6: They saw that, and they’re like, that’s great, we need.

00:15:49
Speaker 4: Man. So many of those gender revealed parties go real wrong.

00:15:53
Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, and then then they go very viral after that, like someone hitting a baseball that they’re wife through or something, and then it just drills the wife.

00:16:02
Speaker 4: And I saw one recently whereas plane flies over and drops something to you know, reveal the gender, and then the plane crashes.

00:16:10
Speaker 2: Oh no, yeah, that’s about his worst. That’s the worst case scenario. I think we have a gender reveals a plane crashes. We waited as long as possible to find out what gender are son? Does that mean the baby was born? Yep, okay, as long as you can go again. What is the only plant that monarch caterpillars? Brody and Seth have this one or other? Four players are stumped.

00:16:36
Speaker 1: I have this somewhere in my head, but I’m not going to get it.

00:16:39
Speaker 3: I feel like I learned this in like third grade and it’s just gone.

00:16:44
Speaker 7: I’m trying to think of all the children’s books I’ve read over my lifetime, and if there’s any clues in there.

00:16:51
Speaker 2: Well, I feel like this thing that like gets talked about is like when Brody was a kid, did they talk about acid rain all the time? Yeah, and then like I don’t know, by the.

00:17:02
Speaker 1: Time about the Communists a lot too, by the time.

00:17:05
Speaker 2: Like, your son’s probably never heard those two words acid rain, right, probably, But I bet he’s learned this. This is like that version that you didn’t learn when you were a kid, but now it’s being talked to. Is everybody ready to go ahead and reveal your answers? Seth Milkweed Randall without an answer, Logan says Leaf Sarah she remembered it milkweed, Corey maple tree, Brody milkweed. The correct answer is milkweed. Monarch’s populations have declined by eighty five percent in the last forty years. One of the primary reasons it’s due to habitat loss. The Upper Midwest has lost the most acres of milkweed, specifically Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois. The National Wildlife Federation says the best thing you can do to help monarchs is to plant milkweed in your yard. Question five, the topic is fishing.

00:17:58
Speaker 1: This is a wild episod.

00:18:00
Speaker 2: So in what state is flaming gorge? Dam In what state is flaming gorge damn? Brodie and Randall quick to answer. Sarah and Corey think they maybe know it, and they are deciding between a few states. And Seth just gasped when he saw the question. In what state is flaming gorge?

00:18:25
Speaker 1: Damn?

00:18:27
Speaker 2: We’ll get a scoreboard update from build the engineer after this.

00:18:32
Speaker 4: Yep, this took me a second.

00:18:33
Speaker 1: Driven over he’s been there.

00:18:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, there’s a hint when we’re there a couple of years ago.

00:18:42
Speaker 1: Man, I’m torn, I don’t know.

00:18:47
Speaker 2: Maybe in what state is Flaming Gorge damn Randall is now waffling after putting down his wife. Immediately it’s doing some crossing out and writing. We’re sticking with answer one or answer to Randall.

00:19:07
Speaker 4: I don’t know, you might be on the three.

00:19:09
Speaker 1: Oh wow, no, no, oh god. Microphone smell.

00:19:19
Speaker 2: That was his microphone this morning in news. So it smells like Randall.

00:19:23
Speaker 1: I’ll go with it.

00:19:24
Speaker 2: Where’s my mic smells like Steve?

00:19:27
Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Yeah?

00:19:29
Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seth says California, Randall Wyoming, Logan, California, Sarah, West Virginia, Cordy, Wyoming, Brody Utah. The correct answer.

00:19:46
Speaker 1: Is Utah.

00:19:47
Speaker 2: Brody got that one right. You guys were close though. Flaming Gorge Dam is located thirty miles south of the Wyoming border on the Green River. The stretch of water below the dam is a blue ribbon stream that’s considered one of the best trout fisheries in the Western United States, and Flaming Gorge Reservoir above the dam has produced multiple state and world records. And I think Flaming Gorge Reservoir goes all the way into Wyoming.

00:20:13
Speaker 6: So to say we used to go fish it and we’d stay at a place called the Flaming Gorge Lodge. And we called it the Flaming Gouge Lodge because they really got you.

00:20:22
Speaker 2: Oh, were you fishing below or above below? And how was it as good as what they say?

00:20:28
Speaker 6: It’s good. It’s a western tailwater, so it’s always almost always crowded. We would hit it in like April or October in the off season, but there’s still a lot of boats. There’s three sections.

00:20:39
Speaker 4: There’s the A, B and C.

00:20:41
Speaker 6: A is very crowded. It so the first like seven miles below the dam.

00:20:45
Speaker 2: I think that’s where they call it the aquarium is located.

00:20:48
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:20:48
Speaker 6: You throw doritos in the water and the trout to eat them.

00:20:51
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:20:51
Speaker 6: And then like the B sections more remote sea section is a barrier remote and down at the end of the sea section is where Butch Cassidy where the cabin is.

00:21:00
Speaker 2: Okay, Flaming Gorge damn in Utah, Phil, we’re halfway through today’s game. Give us a scoreboard update.

00:21:09
Speaker 8: Sure at halftime, Logan, Sarah and Corey. I’ll have one point a piece. Seth has two coming up next. Randall got the first two questions correct, which Brody missed. He has two points, but then Brody pulled ahead because he got the next three questions correct and Randal did not. So in first place is Brodie Henderson with three points. Thanks for that, Phil, You know, I try to spice it up a little bit with some color commentary.

00:21:32
Speaker 1: Breakdown, man off round. I thought that last one was a trick question, and so what did you have?

00:21:42
Speaker 5: I had Utah? And that’s you passed that when you drive past? Yeah, because I knew it was right on the border, and so it was what stayed is the dam in sure? And I associate flaming gorge with utah. But I was thinking it was a trick question, and I remembered seeing a damn when we drove past. Anyways, it’s water under the bridge, now.

00:22:05
Speaker 4: Under the damn.

00:22:05
Speaker 5: All we can do is just try to win the next five questions.

00:22:11
Speaker 2: Question six, The topic is cooking. This brand made the world’s first kettle grill in the nineteen fifties by placing legs on a metal booie. This brand made the world’s first kettle grill in the nineteen fifties by placing legs on a metal booiet Girl Randall is this a good start for the second five?

00:22:36
Speaker 1: I don’t know.

00:22:37
Speaker 2: Okay, only set this whiteboard down and Sarah, I guess. I guess, Sarah, do you have this one right? You think I have a good shout at it?

00:22:46
Speaker 1: Okay.

00:22:47
Speaker 2: This brand made the world’s first kettle grill in the nineteen fifties by placing legs on a metal booie. Corey, do you have this one right?

00:22:57
Speaker 4: Doubtful?

00:22:58
Speaker 1: Come on, man, I’m feeling confident that I got it wrong.

00:23:01
Speaker 2: Cool was locking in.

00:23:05
Speaker 1: His answer.

00:23:07
Speaker 2: Question six A low scoring game so far?

00:23:10
Speaker 6: Stay, what was the index today?

00:23:12
Speaker 2: Four? So Brody needs to get these next five right. To get that eight, I would have to google what the hell kettle girl is? Honestly, Okay, Sarah’s given some help there with some hand gesture.

00:23:25
Speaker 6: Done, I’m done, dun.

00:23:28
Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers? Zet, says Weber. Randal Weber logan pitmaster, Sarah Weber, Corey Coleman, Brody Weber. The correct answer is Weber. George Stephen, the Weber grill inventor, got the idea after having his stakes go up in flames on a brick barbecue he worked at Weber Brothers Medal, where his job was to weld half spheres together to form booies. One day he took one of the those half spears, put legs on it, drilled holes in the bottom, and gave it a lid. Thus the Weber kettle grill was born. So when you’re cooking on a Weber charcoal grill, you’re cooking on what used to be a booie. Question seven, the topic is conservation. This next great question is via Corey Bettencourt. A tourist was charged with two misdemeanors in May after throwing a rock at an endangered Hawaiian blank seal Brodian Randall and Seth and Corey and Sarah all quick to answer, we’re waiting on you, low and you got your answer yet.

00:24:38
Speaker 4: No.

00:24:40
Speaker 2: A tourist was charged with two misdemeanors in Many after throwing a rock at an endangered Hawaiian blank.

00:24:49
Speaker 1: Seal spencer on this can I got check you? How could I got check you?

00:24:58
Speaker 4: Yes?

00:24:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, you gut Your gut is correct. It doesn’t seem like those microphone whispers are going to help logan at all. Maybe a listener at home.

00:25:08
Speaker 7: No, yeah, I mean I don’t think I got this right.

00:25:11
Speaker 2: So the biggest conservation. Have you seen the video logan? Are you familiar with this story at all? Okay, well, we’ll show it to you after this. A tourist was charged to watch the mystic in May after throwing a rock at an endangered Hawaiian blank.

00:25:25
Speaker 4: You can see her.

00:25:29
Speaker 1: It’s everybody ready, I actually haven’t watched the video.

00:25:32
Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seth says Monk Randall monk logan for Sarah Elephant, Cory monk, Brodie monk. The correct answer is monk a Hawaiian monk seal. There are fewer than two thousand Hawaiian monk seals left in the world.

00:25:52
Speaker 4: They have been on the.

00:25:53
Speaker 2: Endangered Species list since nineteen seventy six. The Washington man who threw the rock pleaded not guilty to multiple federal charges, despite the whole thing being caught on film. His lawyer argued that he threw the rock to spook the seal to protect nearby sea turtles. When confronted about it at the beach, the man told onlookers, quote, I’m rich enough to pay any fine.

00:26:14
Speaker 4: Here.

00:26:15
Speaker 2: Is that video even more big rock?

00:26:19
Speaker 4: Yeah?

00:26:19
Speaker 2: That I mean, that’s borderline boulder that he threw it.

00:26:22
Speaker 1: That thing.

00:26:24
Speaker 2: Let’s see it one more time, Phil.

00:26:25
Speaker 1: Oh, goodness, hold on, this is tricky. We’ve asked too much.

00:26:29
Speaker 2: Now.

00:26:30
Speaker 4: I’m not sorry.

00:26:33
Speaker 6: I’m not defending what that guy did in a way, but they I think they have some problems with these things, like being very aggressive with people and whai.

00:26:42
Speaker 2: Well, he is now in court about the whole thing, and I think he’s facing enough money a two year sentence and one hundred and seventy thousand dollars or the max fines and the sentence.

00:26:54
Speaker 1: That he could get. It seems like a real, real dem seemed like he hit the seal.

00:27:00
Speaker 4: Now he missed.

00:27:02
Speaker 6: Well, there’s murder and there’s attempted murder.

00:27:06
Speaker 2: Question eight, The topic is hunting. Some versions of this fictional character’s backstory say he became an outlaw after poaching a deer in Sherwood Forest. What Sarah Randall Brodie already have their answers. Some versions of this fictional character’s backstory say he became an outlaw after poaching a deer in Sherwood Fork.

00:27:35
Speaker 6: You believe it’s taken like five years to get to this question. Now that you think about it. How many years has.

00:27:42
Speaker 2: It been, Spencer, I think since twenty one or twenty two. I think twenty one probably it would be five years into this thing.

00:27:50
Speaker 1: There’s a new flick coming out.

00:27:52
Speaker 6: Real, Oh that’s easy. That’s a little head there.

00:27:55
Speaker 5: Honestly, if you can’t get this, but you’re up on your right YouTube trailers.

00:28:00
Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, that didn’t help at all.

00:28:03
Speaker 2: You know kids these days, Randall, I’m not familiar with the flick. You have to tell me more about it later. Some versions of this fictional character’s backstory say he became an out long after poaching a deer in Sherwood Forest. Fictional character, yep, Corey, Do you have this one right?

00:28:21
Speaker 1: I hope? So?

00:28:21
Speaker 2: Okay, is this a fictional character you’ve covered with your son, Marshall?

00:28:26
Speaker 8: Sure, if it’s.

00:28:28
Speaker 2: If it’s the correct answer, I don’t know what I have written down. Yes, Seth can’t come up with any fictional character now. He is just thought of one.

00:28:37
Speaker 1: I bet he could come up with a fictional character.

00:28:39
Speaker 2: Logan, are you coming up with a fictional character down there? Okay, we’ll be entertained. Go ahead and reveal your answers, Seth, says, Robin Hood Randall, says Robin Hood. Logan Johnny A, Sarah, Robin Hood, Cory Robin Hood, Brody Robin Hood. The correct answer is Robin Hood. In Robin Hood’s Progress to Nottingham, a teenage Robin is walking through the woods when he encounters fifteen royal foresters. They insult Robin, telling him he’s too weak to draw his boat. Robin bets them that he’s able to kill a stag standing one hundred yards away, and then he actually does it. The royal foresters threatened to cut off Robin’s ears, saying that all deer in Sherwood Forest belonged to the king. A fight then ensues and it ends with Robin killing all fifteen foresters. This leads to him fleeing into the forest and spending the rest of his life as an outlaw. They didn’t cover that. Stem. Yeah, very impressive though, that he’s killed all fifteen foresters. That was just a guy like Seth out there working for the Royal Forestry departments. And then he gets gunned down guys like said by fifteen year old Robin. All right, we have two questions left. Phil Scoreboard updates.

00:29:57
Speaker 6: Oh, Hugh Jackman’s doing a Robin Hood.

00:30:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, tell me that’s what it’s old Robin Hood.

00:30:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, like gritty, like I think in training a young protege.

00:30:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, Phil, did you love the Robin Hood movie that wasn’t.

00:30:12
Speaker 8: In my heavy rotation?

00:30:14
Speaker 1: What Rob the Men in Tights? I love that?

00:30:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, that’s good.

00:30:19
Speaker 5: Prince of Thieves Costner, Oh yeah, Morgan, Oh my god.

00:30:25
Speaker 2: The Men in Tights version.

00:30:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, I did like Men and Tites.

00:30:28
Speaker 5: But Prince of Thieves is just a movie that no one talks about enough.

00:30:33
Speaker 2: You’re right, Phil, scoreboards.

00:30:36
Speaker 4: Logan’s hanging on with the points.

00:30:37
Speaker 8: We’ve got Sarah and Corey with three, Seth and randall have five and still in first place, where he’s hanging on with six points.

00:30:46
Speaker 2: Robin Hood was doing the thing that Steve talked about on the news show this week, which is just being like a hunting and fishing outlaw, you know, and.

00:30:54
Speaker 1: Then killing fifteen people.

00:30:57
Speaker 2: That all came dear really because because they threatened to cut off his ears. All right, we’re onto question nine. The topic is woodsmanship. This next great question is via Christopher Blair. This is the highest number a storm can achieve on the Safir Simpson Hurricane scale and enhanced Fujita Tornado scale.

00:31:25
Speaker 1: Question nine, Woodsmanship.

00:31:27
Speaker 2: This is the highest number a storm can achieve on the Safir Simpson Hurricane scale and Enhanced Fujita Tornado scale. Brody, do you like your answer?

00:31:42
Speaker 4: I do.

00:31:43
Speaker 2: He’s got a one point lead these last two questions. Randall doesn’t really love his answer.

00:31:55
Speaker 5: If you’d asked me this question, I wouldn’t have said I would have. You’ve had two different answers for this scale.

00:32:02
Speaker 2: Okay, so you’re choosing between two. Yeah, did you go with what you thought the hurricane would be or the tornado would be?

00:32:08
Speaker 1: I think the hurricane. Okay.

00:32:10
Speaker 2: This is the highest number a storm can achieve on the hurricane scale and tornado scale. That is the Safir Simpson Hurricane scale and the Enhanced Fujita Tornado scale. Is everybody ready, Oh it’s the enhanced version. Yes, that hasn’t changed my answer. Go ahead and reveal your answers. Set says five, Randall six, Logan ten, Sarah five, Cody five, Brody five. The correct answer is five. The room did well. A Category five hurricane has wind speeds greater than one hundred and fifty seven miles per hour, and EF five tornado has wind speeds greater than.

00:32:53
Speaker 1: Two hundred miles per hour.

00:32:55
Speaker 2: The enhanced Fujita scale replaced the Fujita scale, which labeled F fives is having wind speeds between two hundred and sixty one and three hundred eighteen miles per hour. This left for the possibility of having an F six tornado, and twice the scale’s creator gave out that rating, but in both cases the twisters were downgraded to F five’s after further studies. Those tornadoes happened in Texas in nineteen seventy and Ohio in nineteen seventy four. Here is a picture of the nineteen seventy four tornado that touched down east of Dayton. Again, it was originally called an F six by the scale’s creator, but they later changed it to an F five.

00:33:35
Speaker 6: So I feel like you’re giving Randal some room to argue.

00:33:39
Speaker 2: Not because I said the enhanced The.

00:33:40
Speaker 1: Enhanced scale is in fact a diminished scale.

00:33:44
Speaker 2: It’s capped now nothing above A five.

00:33:47
Speaker 1: So it’s enhanced by having fewer options.

00:33:49
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, you could say that means more.

00:33:52
Speaker 1: It seems to me.

00:33:54
Speaker 6: Of the original Schwister.

00:33:56
Speaker 1: Movie RAND four. Yeah, I mean it never really did a ton for me.

00:34:00
Speaker 4: Oh, it’s a great flick.

00:34:01
Speaker 1: Huh.

00:34:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it’s interesting, but it’s I don’t know. Oh, I haven’t seen the new one.

00:34:07
Speaker 1: Do you see the new one?

00:34:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, it’s cheesy, but still if you like tornadoes, it’s worth watching.

00:34:12
Speaker 4: Randon.

00:34:12
Speaker 2: Were you familiar with whatever this tornado is from nineteen seventy five?

00:34:16
Speaker 1: No?

00:34:17
Speaker 5: No, we had a big tornado when I was like in elementary school, junior high that touched down pretty near our house. Well, there’s a lot of damage in Blue Ash Okay. I think Sycamore High School might have been damaged. I can’t say for sure, but we drove over to look at the damage.

00:34:33
Speaker 2: When I was like six years old and F five went through Spencer, South Dakota. You know, it was very fun when you’re a Spencer in South Dakota who lives thirty miles from the town that the tornado destroyed.

00:34:45
Speaker 1: If there had been social media.

00:34:46
Speaker 2: Back check, oh yeah, the same thing.

00:34:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, I could have sworn that.

00:34:51
Speaker 5: I’ve heard of like a category six hurricane, maybe on a different scale, but probably not the one that everyone uses.

00:34:58
Speaker 1: Probably not, I just whole scale.

00:35:01
Speaker 2: All right, here’s the correct answer review so far one with ninety five degrees fahrenheit or thirty five degrees celsius two, Wonders of Wildlife three, Tannerite four, milkweed five, Utah six Weber seven, monk Seal eight, Robinhood nine five Phil score Ward.

00:35:22
Speaker 8: Update just got slightly more interesting because Seth has pulled ahead of Randall and now the game is between Brody and Seth. Brody has seven, Seth has six.

00:35:32
Speaker 2: Here’s question ten. The topic is foraging. This is our listener question of the Week, which was won by Dan Patterson for sending this great question. Dan is going to get a one hundred and fifty dollars First Light gift card. If you want a chance to win the Listener Question of the Week, then send your question to Trivia at the meat Eater dot com. This seven letter word that’s often associated with blackberries and raspberries is defined as quote a rough bush or vine that usually has sharp thorne.

00:36:00
Speaker 1: Urns.

00:36:04
Speaker 2: Sarah and Randall have their answers. This seven letter word that’s often associated with blackberries and raspberries is defined as a rough bush or vine that usually has sharp thorns.

00:36:18
Speaker 1: So there is I’m not debating this, but.

00:36:23
Speaker 5: It’s The National Hurricane Center hasn’t officially adopted it, but a category six hurricane is possible. Several storms have already reached these wind speeds that exceed.

00:36:35
Speaker 1: Whatever it is.

00:36:36
Speaker 5: Okay, and so there’s some debate in the hurricane community about this because category six level wind speeds are becoming more common.

00:36:45
Speaker 2: Okay, maybe someday we’ll ask this question again in a decade, Randall.

00:36:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, I’m not debating it.

00:36:50
Speaker 5: I just again, you’re just trying to enlighten us. Yeah, I’m fascinated by it. Right, it’s a theoretical rating.

00:36:57
Speaker 2: We would need Brody to get this one wrong and Seth to get it right to go to overtime. Both appear to have blank whiteboards.

00:37:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, and to really go to overtime, we would need you to counter like retroactively give me a point for that, and then we get.

00:37:11
Speaker 1: It right and to get it wrong.

00:37:12
Speaker 2: Do you have this one right?

00:37:13
Speaker 1: I think? So?

00:37:14
Speaker 2: Okay, Seth put down his white board. Do you have this one right?

00:37:17
Speaker 1: Seth?

00:37:18
Speaker 3: You know the word I was trying to come up with the answer I want to put down.

00:37:23
Speaker 4: I don’t know how to spell it, so just put it several ways to come up with seven, you know.

00:37:29
Speaker 2: Okay, seven letter words left out a letter and often.

00:37:35
Speaker 4: One. Maybe is this a word that could be misspelled?

00:37:38
Speaker 1: I don’t know.

00:37:38
Speaker 2: Let me find as a rough push or vine that usually has sharp thorns.

00:37:47
Speaker 3: I was gonna say, I could use what I would use what I’m putting down to describe that seth.

00:37:52
Speaker 1: Would you rather have yours than mine? Or mine than yours?

00:37:56
Speaker 6: I’m blank, man ship, I couldn’t, but I spelled mine wrongs.

00:38:00
Speaker 1: Probably yours should have just done it.

00:38:03
Speaker 2: I don’t know how big game of what ifs Randall.

00:38:09
Speaker 6: Tanner.

00:38:10
Speaker 2: I feel like that’s you had Utah and went with wyoming.

00:38:15
Speaker 5: Yea, and I knew, I knew F five was the fastest tornado. But for whatever reason, it’s everybody ready.

00:38:25
Speaker 2: Seven letter word associated with blackberries and raspberries, a rough bush or vine thorn. Go ahead and reveal your answers. Seths, Briars, Randall, bramble, Logan Corey, Bramble, Corey says jacket, ripper Brody without an answer. The correct answer is bramble Sarah and random first has.

00:38:50
Speaker 4: The bramble Gators.

00:38:51
Speaker 6: I should oh, I didn’t know that.

00:38:55
Speaker 2: Bramble well appropriately names besides blackberries and raspberries, brambles are often made up of something from the rose family, and if you hear the term bramble berry, that can refer to anything that grows in a bramble, including salmon berryes, thimbleberries, boison berries, and dewberries.

00:39:17
Speaker 1: And there’s a little there’s a little universe of.

00:39:21
Speaker 5: Little porcelain figurines of like bunny people, brambley patch o.

00:39:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was familiar, all right. That makes Brody Today’s winter. With seven correct answers, he beats random and set by one point. Brody, what do you can do with that five hundred dollars donation?

00:39:39
Speaker 6: We’ve been talking a lot about pefass chemicals in water and data centers sucking up water, so uh, we’re gonna donate to American rivers. They just came out with their most endangered river list. Hmmm for the United States, the Potomac was the most endangered river.

00:39:56
Speaker 2: So there’s always some staples on there. I feel like the Colorado River is usually.

00:39:59
Speaker 6: On dewatered so bad. But yeah, we’ll donate to a.

00:40:03
Speaker 2: Hundred five hundred dollars there. Join us next week for more mediat or Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins.

00:40:12
Speaker 1: Yes, Spencer from South Dakota. He’s the host, using those smooth, mellow tones. He lays them questions down. He likes taking those two and three year old bucks.

00:40:29
Speaker 6: It is an avid amateur lock
