While they drew clear ergonomic inspiration from John Browning’s legendary 1911 pistol, Star’s designs carved out their own distinct mechanical path, omitting the grip safety and simplifying the internal lockwork. In 1975, Star caught lightning in a bottle with the introduction of the Model PD.
