No stranger to rebirth, Colt has recently spun off an optics division to make sure that, in a world where optics are considered to be standard equipment, a fully kitted-out gun can be all-pony. To achieve this goal, in addition to introducing magnified optics, Colt is also offering a rifle red-dot and magnifier, along with a handgun red dot.
The CSQ-1 is a closed emitter red-dot optic designed for rifles. It has a 7075-T6 aluminum housing with a 1.25 x 1.25-inch viewing window. Brightness adjustment includes eight daytime and four night vision settings, and adjustment buttons are top-mounted with a designated night-vision button. Powered by a single CR2032 battery with a 50,000-hour life, the sight will auto shut off after eight hours and can be motion-activated back on.
Its reticle is a CSQ Multirole MRAD ranging and BDC reticle. It has an Aimpoint T2 mounting footprint and includes a Picatinny mount with risers for absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness. The CSQ-1 has an overall length of 3 inches and weighs 8 ounces. It is available with either a black or coyote finish and has an MSRP of $824.
The C3X-1 magnifier is designed to pair perfectly with the CSQ-1. With 3X magnification, it has a Picatinny mount that allows it to flip out of the way to the right or left side when an unmagnified primary optic is needed. It has a 7.5-degree field of view with a 2.95- to 3.35-inch eye relief. The primary optics reticle can be centered in the magnifier with the C3X-1’s windage and elevation turrets and a diopter focuses the image. With an overall length of 2.72 inches, it weighs 6.1 ounces. The C3X-1 has an MSRP of $604.
The MRS-1 is a closed emitter handgun red dot. Top-mounted brightness buttons control eight daytime and four night vision settings of its 3-MOA dot and it is powered by a single CR2032 battery that has a life of 75,000 hours. It shakes awake and has a 10-minute auto shut-off. The MRS-1 uses an Acro mounting footprint. With an overall length of 1.85 inches, it weighs 2 ounces. It is also designed to function on pistol caliber carbines (PCCs) and as a backup sight mounted on magnified optics. The MRS-1 has an MSP of $428.
