A 47-year-old suspected criminal is dead after attempting to steal a vehicle from an armed citizen less than an hour after being released on charges of assault and family violence.
The 25-year-old victim told officers he stopped by his business at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5. While he was out of the vehicle, an unidentified man entered his running truck, which had his wife and baby daughter inside. The 25-year-old father offered another vehicle to the 47-year-old suspect and warned him against taking the truck but an altercation ensued, and the armed citizen opened fire, hitting the suspect.
When police arrived, the wounded man was given medical aid, but he later died at a local hospital. Police were able to identify the suspect due to a paper sack he possessed, which suggested that he had been recently released from jail. The Angelina County Jail is located near the site of the shooting. Jail officials confirmed that the man had just been released from their custody. No charges are expected against the 25-year-old armed citizen. (Kicks 105; Lufkin, Texas; 6/6/24)

When Mrs. Arletta Norton, wife of the operator of the Valley Drive-In in Mt. Vernon, Ky., returned to the restaurant one night after closing, she found two individuals inside, frying hamburgers and helping themselves to candy, cigarettes, chewing gum and other stock items.
