Hey, everyone. Welcome to another American Rifleman Gun Of The Week video, we’re on the range today with an affordable pump-action shotgun imported by GForce Arms, and this particular design is available only from Davidson’s Gallery of Guns. Watch our video above to see this scattergun in use on the range.
Thanks to Davidson’s position as one of the largest firearm distributors in the country, the company convinces manufacturers to craft unique models and product combinations for their buyers. The resulting configurations from the Davidson’s network of dealers are ones you just won’t find anywhere else. This no-frills GF3PD pump-action shotgun is one such example, and it’s an incredibly affordable design that packs in a few desirable features for shotgun fans.
With an MSRP of just a few hundred bucks, the GForce Arms GF3PD shotgun is one of the most affordable options on the market, and yet, it has everything you’d want for a basic home-defense pump. To keep manufacturing costs down, this shotgun is imported from Turkey, where it’s produced by Radikal Arms, one of the more prominent Turkish gunmakers. In terms of basic mechanics, the design is similar to the proven Remington 870, but there are some slight differences that prevent total parts or accessory interchangeability.
Chambered for 3” shells, this 12-gauge shotgun is outfitted with a short 18.5” barrel and features an underbarrel tube magazine that holds up to four shotshells. At the end of the barrel is a simple front sight bead that allows for natural, instinctive aiming when viewed along the top plane of the barrel and receiver. Unlike many home-defense shotguns with cylinder bore barrels, the GForce Arms GF3PD is equipped with a fixed modified choke that offers some additional constriction that enables shot and 00 buck pellets to produce a tighter pattern at longer ranges. It is not recommended to run slugs through this barrel configuration.
For many owners of budget shotguns, a popular tactic is to upgrade with new components after the fact. On this Davidson’s Exclusive, the company has provided a built-in upgrade with the addition of a textured , tactical-style fore-end, all while keeping costs low. This fore-end provides several M-Lok-style slots, as well as texturing that ensures a solid grip while working the action. A functional, utilitarian buttstock is included on the shotgun, and GForce Arms sells a receiver adapter that makes the GF3PD compatible with all Remington 870-pattern stocks.
On the range, we put this pump-action through its paces and were impressed with its reliability and simple mechanics. There are very few manually operated guns that are easier to learn than a pump-action shotgun, and the GF3PD is no different. A simple crossbolt safety is located at the rear of the trigger guard. An action-unlock button is located at the front of the trigger guard. Once the trigger is pulled and the gun is fired, the action unlocks and allows for a smooth, swift pump to the rear and a clean return to battery. We appreciated the highly visible front bead, as well as the gun’s rugged matte-black finish. For a basic, no-frills shotgun that won’t break the bank, it’s hard to go wrong with the GF3PD.
