SurvivalBlog’s News From The American Redoubt

This weekly column features news stories and event announcements from around the American Redoubt region. (Idaho, Montana, eastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and Wyoming.) Much of the region is also more commonly known as The Inland Northwest. We also mention companies located in the American Redoubt region that are of interest to preppers and survivalists. Today, some more details on the loss of American Redoubt resident Paul Harrell. (See the Central & Eastern Oregon section.)

Idaho

Change of Venue granted for Bryan Kohberger murder trial. JWR’s Comment:  They’ll be moving the trial somewhere down around Boise, I presume. That is a 5.5-hour drive from Moscow, in good weather.  Or they could go as far as Idaho Falls. That is 565 miles from Moscow — a 9.5-hour drive.

Central & Eastern Oregon

Last week, gun YouTuber Paul Harrell’s death of pancreatic cancer came as some sad but expected news. He announced his own death in a pre-recorded video. His widow, Mary, has been a dentist with chairs in several dental offices in southwestern Oregon, and in Pendleton, Oregon. While Paul was alive, they split their time between Southwest Oregon and his ranch near La Grande, in the Blue Mountains — in Eastern Oregon. He filmed most of his videos up in The Blues. Paul was an Oregon native. Mary is originally from Yakima, Washington.  Our condolences to Mary and to all of Paul’s family.  Paul will be remembered for his contributions to gun safety and survival education as well as his characteristic shooting jacket, his quirky personal assortment of guns, and his classic cars that included a very nicely restored 1965 Ford Thunderbird (pictured) and a more “pleasantly-aged” 1972 Plymouth Road Runner.  His gun knowledge and his dry sense of humor will be greatly missed. We wish his family Peace, Pop Tarts, and 7.62.
