A man who broke into a Las Vegas home is dead after failing to heed the instructions of an armed homeowner, according to statements from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Police received a call from the homeowner at about 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, alerting them to the fact that a stranger was breaking windows and attempting to get inside the house. “The man was not listening to what they were telling him,” said Lt. Jason Johansson of Las Vegas Police Homicide. “He was acting extremely irrational as they continued to tell him to leave the property.”
The irrational stranger continued his attempt to break into the home, forcing the homeowner to open fire. The suspect, suffering from a gunshot wound, was found in the home’s driveway by responding officers and was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. Police say they do not believe the homeowner will face charges. (8 News Now; Las Vegas, Nev.; 9/26/24)
