A 24-year-old man was shot while trying to enter a Poplar Bluff, Mo., home by breaking in through a window, according to local police.
Reports from the Poplar Bluff police say that officers responded to a report of a shooting at 5:50 a.m. on October 12. When they arrived, a woman who lived in the house told deputies that she had fired three times at a man who attempted to enter through her bedroom window. After a search, police found the suspect nearby, who had suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder and hand.
The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment and now faces charges of burglary. Police are not charging the woman who fired in self-defense. (KFVS 12 News; Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 10/14/24)

In the hospital, awaiting the removal of a bullet, a man with an extensive police record admitted having twice previously held up the Wilmington, Del., combination grocery store-service station where he had been shot by the operator, Mrs. Thelma Lance, during his third attempt. (Evening Journal)
