Antique Gun Show Thrives Amid New Licensing Rules

Antique Gun Show Thrives Amid New Licensing Rules

The Nelson District Rod and Gun Club’s (NDRCC) third annual antique gun show draws impressive crowds and sales over the weekend, despite recent federal gun licensing changes. These new regulations, which banned 324 firearms in December and an additional 179 types in May 2025, did not deter attendees. NDRCC president Howie Grant reported that both Saturday and Sunday outperformed last year’s event, highlighting the show’s growing popularity.

In addition to firearms, the event features diverse vendors, including conservation societies and fly fishing companies, making it a community gathering. A raffle offering a free .22-caliber rifle added to the excitement, demonstrating the show’s role as a fundraiser for the club while celebrating a rich history of antique firearms. Such events not only support the local community but also reflect ongoing interest in preserving traditional hunting and shooting culture.
