Arkansas legislators are reevaluating Second Amendment rights in state parks after a tragic double homicide at Devil’s Den on July 26. During a recent meeting, state leaders expressed concern about the potential lifting of firearm restrictions in these areas, as State Police Director Col. Mike Hagar highlighted the ongoing dialogue surrounding public safety and gun laws in the wake of the incident.

Col. Hagar argues that permitting more responsible gun ownership could enhance community safety, stating, “the more good people that we have with weapons… the better that we all are.” Despite contrasting data showing states with stricter gun laws report lower firearm mortality rates, Hagar believes that relaxing certain restrictions might deter crime.
