The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) engages in an intense chase after three armed juveniles, who absconded from a facility in Pennsylvania, steal a red 2016 Land Rover SUV and flee to Northeast D.C. Their flight follows a shooting incident where an adult male sustains a non-life-threatening gunshot wound around 10:49 p.m., prompting an immediate police response that reveals the suspects used the stolen SUV in the robbery. As officers track the vehicle, aerial support from the MPD’s helicopter Falcon 1 intensifies the pursuit, culminating in a dramatic scene where five suspects jump out of the SUV.

During the chase, one juvenile is detained with an AR-15-style rifle found nearby, while two others flee before being apprehended near Minnesota Avenue and T Street, SE. All three apprehended individuals face serious charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Robbery, as officials continue their search for the remaining suspects involved in the incident. MPD Chief Pamela A. Smith emphasizes the importance of swift coordination across departments in managing such high-stakes scenarios, highlighting ongoing efforts to hold violent offenders accountable.
