A 19-year-old Baton Rouge resident, Brandon Soileau, has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder following a shooting that left 23-year-old Evan Lynch dead at the Doyle High School baseball field on Friday night. The shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. as Lynch was transported in a car after being shot in the chest, leading to his death shortly after midnight at a Baton Rouge hospital.

According to Livingston Police Chief Randy Dufrene, the incident did not involve local residents or Doyle High students, dispelling fears of a broader threat. In response to the shooting, Doyle High School Principal Ashley Sharp announced plans to review security measures at the facility, which includes surveillance cameras and a barrier gate to prevent unauthorized vehicle access.
