Atlanta faces a troubling wave of gun violence, with 22 shootings recorded over just 72 hours, resulting in four fatalities and multiple injuries. Most incidents, which occurred citywide from Thursday to Sunday, appear mostly unconnected, yet some may share links, intensifying concerns about safety amid this alarming trend.

Among these violent episodes, a late-night shootout on Edgewood Avenue left three injured, including one man suffering gunshot wounds to the abdomen and thigh. Despite the increase in shootings, July’s homicide count is down compared to previous years, prompting law enforcement to actively investigate these cases, including the tragic shooting of a beloved youth football coach known as “Coach Ball.”
