Victor Perez, a 17-year-old boy with autism and cerebral palsy, tragically dies after being shot multiple times by police in Pocatello, Idaho. The incident occurred on April 5 when officers fired from behind a chain-link fence as Perez, who was holding a kitchen knife, stumbled toward them. Family members were reportedly trying to calm him down before the shooting, which took place in less than 12 seconds of police arrival.

His family calls for accountability as the investigation into the officers’ actions continues. The case raises significant concerns regarding police response to individuals with disabilities and the need for de-escalation tactics in similar situations.
