In an effort to enhance community safety, Baltimore County Public Libraries offer free gun safety locks throughout June as part of National Gun Violence Awareness Month. This initiative, a collaboration with the Baltimore County Department of Health, aims to reduce the risks of suicide and gun violence by promoting secure firearm storage. With firearms involved in 47% of suicide deaths in the county, library officials stress the importance of taking proactive measures for community well-being.

Following June, residents can continue to access gun safety locks via public health vending machines, further emphasizing the library’s commitment to safety and prevention initiatives.
