President Joe Biden expresses a desire to eliminate the liability protections for gun manufacturers, a step that could drastically reshape the firearms industry. During a recent event, he pointed out that gun makers are the only major industry exempt from being sued when their products are used unlawfully, referring to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) of 2005, which has long protected them from litigation.

Advocates argue that repealing these protections would open the door for accountability and drive manufacturers to implement safer practices and features. Current industry representatives warn that such a move could jeopardize jobs and threaten economic stability, highlighting the contentious divide between gun rights advocates and those pushing for stronger gun control measures.
