A 32-year-old Seattle man, Louis Montel De’Andre Dowers, faces a potential sentence of five years to life in prison after pleading guilty to an armed carjacking involving a ghost gun. The incident occurred on June 9, 2024, when Dowers threatened a man with a firearm and forcibly stole a BMW in Pioneer Square, just as the victim was parked waiting for his wife to return from a nearby store.
Law enforcement quickly apprehended Dowers, who was found with a loaded ghost gun shortly after the theft. Court documents reveal that the victim managed to retrieve his dog from the stolen vehicle just before it sped away, narrowly avoiding danger when Dowers nearly struck the victim’s wife as he fled. Dowers is set to be sentenced on August 4, 2025, with prosecutors recommending a maximum of seven years in prison, although the judge has discretion to impose a longer sentence.
