Colorado GOP leaders have formally urged U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate recent changes to state gun laws, which they allege violate the Second Amendment. This request follows Governor Jared Polis’s signing of Senate Bill 3, a measure requiring permits for purchasing certain semiautomatic firearms and imposing additional training requirements.

The call for an investigation highlights a growing tension over gun rights in Colorado, where 37 counties have declared themselves “Second Amendment Sanctuaries.” Critics of the new law view it as a significant barrier to lawful gun ownership, particularly for low-income residents, raising questions about its implications for Second Amendment protections.
