As shooting competitively gets more popular, manufacturers have answered with purpose-built firearms, optics and accessories. This includes ammunition, where off-the-shelf hunting or self-defense cartridges just won’t cut it. Winchester Ammunition has answered the call of competitive shooters with its new Super Match lineup, comprised of cartridges tailored to perform in a variety of events.

Winchester Super Match handgun ammunition is designed for semi-automatic pistol competitions.
Super Match handgun cartridges use full metal jacket round or flat-nosed bullets.

Winchester Super Match ammunition is precision engineered with match-grade components. The lineup includes 19 different loads, including those for handguns, shotguns and rifles. For handguns, there are four different 9 mm Luger loads, with bullet weights ranging from 115 to 147 grains, and one load each for .38 Super, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, respectively, each using a flat-nose or round-nose FMJ bullet. Pistol cartridges have high-sensitivity primers for reliable function in tuned competition guns. They are loaded to meet minor or major power factor specifications.

Winchester Super Match .223 Rem. and 5.56 NATO cartridges are designed for high speed competitions, like 3-Gun.
Several Winchester Super Match rifle loads feature the company’s new BC Max bullet.

Rifle loads include .223 Rem., 5.56 NATO, 6 ARC, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .308 Win and 7.62 NATO, each using Winchester’s BC Max or boattail hollow point bullets. The .223 Rem. and 5.56 NATO loads are designed for dynamic shooting competitions, like 3-Gun, and use a heavy-for-caliber bullet. Larger cartridges are engineered for precision rifle competitions. The BC Max bullet is newly designed by Winchester and features a polymer-tip, a thick-walled jacket and a high ballistic coefficient.

Winchester Super Match shotshells are engineered for tube and box-magazine-fed semi-auto shotguns in fast-paced competitions.
Winchester Super Match shotshells feature thick hulls and high-brass heads.

Three 12-gauge, 2 3/4-inch shotgun Super Match loads are designed for busting clays or ringing steel. They include 1 1/8 ounces of #7.5 pellets, a 1-ounce slug or nine-pellet 00 buckshot. Super Match shotshells have extra thick hulls and high brass heads to withstand the rigors of competition, especially when fed from a box magazine.
