Anissa Quinn, a Davenport mother deeply affected by gun violence, organizes her sixth annual walk and rally this weekend to raise awareness of violent crime and honor her son’s ongoing struggle after a shooting in 2017. Her event not only serves as a memorial for her late son, De’Zia Bailey, who was killed in 2024, but also aims to amplify the voices of victims and unite the community in a stand against violence.
The walk begins on Saturday, July 26, at the intersection of 4th and Warren Streets, culminating at the Davenport Police Station, where a prayer will be held. Following the walk, a block party rally will take place featuring food, entertainment, and activities for children, highlighting the community’s resilience and commitment to supporting families affected by gun violence. Quinn also runs a support group for grieving families, showcasing her dedication to helping others navigate their own pain.
