Defence Chiefs Lose Arsenal of Weapons in Past Year

UK defence chiefs have lost an alarming array of weapons over the past year, including a Russian-made Kalashnikov AKM assault rifle and dozens of rounds of ammunition. The Ministry of Defence disclosed that at least 40 firearms have gone missing since 2018, raising significant security concerns amongst experts and the public alike.

Among the missing items are two general purpose machine guns, one of which was lost at sea by the Royal Navy. Col Phil Ingram, a former Army commander, emphasizes the urgent need for thorough investigations into these losses, particularly given the potential security risks posed by misplaced military-grade hardware and sensitive data items, such as laptops and USB drives.
