Early Wednesday morning, two Cook County sheriff’s deputies narrowly escape injury when someone opens fire from a silver car outside Mount Sinai Hospital. The deputies were leaving the hospital around 3:30 a.m. when the incident occurred, with gunfire damaging the rear passenger door of their police vehicle but thankfully missing the officers aged 27 and 28.
Police immediately launch a search for the silver car, which fled the scene heading east, and no arrests have been made. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about officer safety as the Cook County sheriff’s office continues to address rising violence in Chicago.
