Edgewood commissioners recently voted 2-1 against a proposed ‘constitutional carry’ ordinance that would allow residents to carry firearms without state permits. Mayor Ken Brennan expressed concerns about attracting negative attention to the town, which has previously garnered media spotlight for its strict stance on abortion-related legislation in a predominantly Democratic state.

Proposed by Commissioner Stephen Murillo, the ordinance aimed to challenge what he described as overreaching state gun control measures.
