Family members of 29-year-old Alexandra Cordoba are calling for an independent investigation into her shooting death by Gardena police, which occurred at the conclusion of a brief pursuit on April 15. Police attempted to stop Cordoba for speeding, but she allegedly fled and later barricaded herself in her vehicle while brandishing a firearm, prompting officers to open fire.

Describing the incident as a “reckless use of force,” Cordoba’s sister, Minor, emphasizes the need for accountability and transparency, particularly with requests for the release of police body-camera and dashcam footage. As concerns about public trust in law enforcement grow, the family is also consulting legal counsel to ensure thorough scrutiny of the events leading to Alexandra’s death.
