After the tragic suicide of his son Ryan, a decorated Navy SEAL, former SEAL and Pentagon official Frank Larkin uncovers evidence of untreated brain injuries linked to military service. Ryan’s brain, donated for research after his death, revealed previously undiagnosed microscopic scars that may explain prevalent mental health issues and suicides in the armed forces.

Larkin’s advocacy not only highlights the need for better understanding of these “invisible wounds,” but it has also prompted the military to initiate modifications in training and weaponry to reduce trauma from low-level blasts. Special Operations Command is currently testing new training tactics and weapon designs aimed at preventing further mental health crises in veterans, thanks to Larkin’s relentless efforts to ensure no other father endures a similar loss.
