Community members gather at Festival Park in Fayetteville to honor 7-year-old Zion Gibbs, who was killed a year ago in a drive-by shooting while playing video games at home. His mother, Myra Gibbs, emphasizes the importance of gun safety, urging the community to engage in activities that guide children toward positive experiences and away from violence.

As part of the remembrance, local advocates stress the need for change, underscoring the impact of gun violence on families. Last month, two individuals, 20-year-old Antori Porter and 19-year-old Sierra Chambers, were indicted on charges related to Zion’s murder, adding a stark reminder of the ongoing fight for safety. Both are due in court again next month as the community continues to seek justice and safer environments.
