Felon Arrested with Gun and Drugs During Traffic Stop

A Springfield man, Shain West, 27, faces multiple charges after being arrested during a traffic stop in Webster, where police discovered an illegal firearm and a significant amount of marijuana. West, who has prior felony convictions, was pulled over for a defective license plate light at approximately 2:55 a.m. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers noted West’s suspicious behavior and found not only a loaded .22 caliber handgun but also bags containing over three ounces of marijuana, leading to his immediate arrest.

As a convicted felon, West is prohibited from possessing firearms, raising serious legal repercussions. He is charged with several offenses, including carrying a firearm without a license and possession with intent to distribute. Bail has been set at $10,000, and he awaits a dangerousness hearing following his arraignment at Dudley District Court.
